The first part of the video about shows how we created the background for the green screen. We created the background using after effects. The aim was to create a background that was brighter in the centre, this was to highlight the people in the video during the interviews. To achieve this effect we found a tutorial on YouTube that guided us through the process of creating this background. We chose the solid cream colour as it is a clear and simple colour that doesn't distract viewers from the subject of the video.
After we finished creating the background we exported it and then added it to Adobe Premiere. We then dragged it underneath all of the videos and then selected the green screen by dragging the effect "Ultra Key: on to all the videos necessary. When the video has the effect we then had to change the settings to aggressive, this was to get rid as much of the green screen as possible, this also gave a smooth outline to the volunteers.
To put all the interview videos into one scene we pasted on top of each other and resized and move them using the effects control. To tidy up this part of the video we used a grid to make sure that all the videos were in line with each other. We wanted all the people in the same shot just to show who is taking part in the social experiment.
To explain some parts of the social experiment we had to write the questions as a title, to make sure this is not too plain and boring we added a swishing sound effect when the title came on. All of the titles came swiping to the right until it hit the centre, we then left the title on the screen long enough for viewers to read the swipe the title back off the screen to the right. When the title came of the screen we used the swishing sound again. We also used the same sound and effects on some of the Vlogs and interviews.
We wanted to show the phone usage information creatively so we used the template of a text message on an iPhone which is one of the most popular phones with the most recognisable features. We wrote the usage information in the message template and popped it up on screen when it was required. When the messaged popped up on screen we used the default messaging tone of the iPhone which again is easily detected. To pop the message up we resized and moved the message using the effects controls.
Some of the Vlogs didn't fit the screen correctly, this meant that without having to crop the edges off we create the double video effect. We did this by duplicating the videos and enlarging them behind the original. We then used the Gaussian blur effect to blur out the video behind however we controlled the blurriness so the video can still be recognised. We think this was a good effect as it main the video have more appeal to it because even though the video underneath was blurry it allowed us to the basic mirror image of the video in front.
Some of the Vlogs were also not shot in the best lighting conditions, this meant that we had to play around with the brightness and contrast of the videos by dragging the brightness and contrast effect on to the videos necessary. The quality of some of the interviews at the beginning needed to be changed as the camera was not correctly focused on some people. This was down to the fact that we try not to move the equipment as much as possible in order to keep the continuity. We enhance quality of the videos by changing the strength of the sharpness effect.
For the credits we used the default title scroll, we used this as it is the most professional way to present the final part of our work. We changed the speed of it so it doesn't last too long but it was not to fast that it could not be read.
